ANTA works for Teraian Identity, Integration, and Empowerment.
About Us
ANTA is an autonomous, independent, non-political, non-profit organization. ANTA is registered as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Since our founding in 2005, we have strived to provide a sense of community and identity for Teraians through humanitarian projects in Nepal and community-building activities in the US.
The word "Teraian" refers to Nepali people with Madheshi origin. The Madhesh/Terai is the southern plain of Nepal, stretching from East to West just south of the Himalayas. The term "Madheshi" refers to those whose relatives/ancestors have had permanent residence in Madhesh and speak languages spoken in Madhesh as their mother tongue, and is/was a citizen or is eligible for citizenship of Nepal.
ANTA’s Vision and Goals
Professional development and communication among Madheshis
ANTA works for closer cooperation, networking and strengthening ties among Madheshis in the US through financial stimulation and sharing of expertise. Whether it be by supporting promising young Madheshi students or furthering women's rights in the workplace, we are dedicated to the welfare of Nepali Madheshi people in America and beyond.
Awareness and the promotion of the Madheshi identity, linguistics, and culture
ANTA promotes the advancement of the Madheshi identity, linguistic and cultural heritage in North America. Through cultural programs directed to the younger generation and actively promoting the sports, skill development and technology of Teraians, we are determined to keep Madheshi culture alive and well in North America.
Giving back and lending a hand - Community service and philanthropy
ANTA is determined to give back to those who have given so much to us. We have launched several projects and initiatives to improve the lives of Madheshis in the US and in Nepal, the motherland. Nepal is a natural disaster prone country, and we are committed to helping out any way we can. Interested in giving back and helping out through ANTA?
